Small Coffee Table Square from Paul Kingma, the Netherlands, 1980s

One of a kind coffee table made by Paul Kingma and made in his own Atelier, The Netherlands 1980. The square tabletop has beautiful features like the orange/red an yellow/gold bend tile pieces and the light grey and black pieces which create a nice detail against the colour. The tops layout is made of four colour segments on each side with in the middle a cross of multiple coloured tiles. These are tables you can keep staring at, and every time you do, you notice something new. It’s like a piece of art with all the colour hues like orange, grey, black and brown. For the base two black metal L-folded structures form its stability, a simple but very clever idea where the strength of the minimal use of materials comes from the simple folding of the metal. This table is unmarked but was purchased together with the large table on the pictures and they were positioned together. The big table on the pictures is not included in this listing but came from the same house and can be purchased here. Kingma’s love for nature shines through in this table. He traveled extensively to collect unique materials like stone, metal, concrete, brass, copper, glass, and ceramic. Each table is a one-of-a-kind piece, handcrafted with great care and precision, showcasing Kingma’s dedication to creating extraordinary furniture that connects with the beauty of the natural world. Born in The Hague, Paul Kingma studied art in Arnhem before training at the Rijks Akademie [State Academy of Fine Arts] in Amsterdam and the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Over the course of his career, he was commissioned to create several sculptures for public spaces in Dutch cities such as Utrecht, Eindhoven, & Amersfoort.
