MP-1 Sofa attributed to Percival Lafer for Percival Lafer, Brazil, 1961

Rare sofa designed by Percival Lafer and manufactured by Lafer MP, Brazil 1961. The steel structure is covered with beautiful warm brown grained hardwood. The seat is reupholstered in an off-white bouclé which looks a lot like faux sheep fur. The Mp-1 series was Percival Lafer’s first design and the first piece of furniture with the Lafer brand. The steel legs covered with wood give it a lighter appearance, especially with the wooden arms that point up. The sofa has a steel rail frame underneath the seat where the structure of the arms is attached to. According to Percival “there is just a slim piece of wood supporting the piece because of the steel soul.” This design is mostly seen as a lounge chair, unique in this version.
